An Illinois family just celebrated their second Thanksgiving with the mail carrier who helped save their father’s life and this year’s gathering came with a joyful twist.
Last fall, USPS carrier Jaylen Lockhart was on his route when he saw 75-year-old Guy Miller fall while walking his dog. Lockhart rushed over, helped stop the bleeding, alerted neighbors, and notified Miller’s wife so she could get him medical care.
The families stayed connected, and the Millers invited Jaylen and his loved ones to Thanksgiving dinner as a thank-you. That one act of kindness has since grown into a real friendship that both families say has been a blessing.
Jaylen says he’s gained a second family through this chance encounter, and the Millers calls him a true role model.
