Stacey & Mike's Happy News: Family Rabbit Alerts Them House On Fire

A family in California is crediting their pet rabbit, Coco, with saving their lives after a house fire broke out early Friday morning. The blaze started from a backyard warming fire that hadn’t been fully extinguished after Thanksgiving celebrations, and the entire family was fast asleep when Coco suddenly began thumping loudly in the kitchen.

That unusual racket woke up Erlene Rivera, who rushed downstairs to find part of the home already engulfed in flames. Coco, whom the family had rescued as a baby years ago, seemed determined to sound the alarm, jumping and thumping like never before to get their attention.

Fire officials say the damage could have been far worse if Coco hadn’t acted quickly.
