A Farmington Hills couple is calling it their own Christmas miracle after a night of holiday fun in downtown Detroit took an unexpected turn. Dave Hillyard and his girlfriend, Shelby Lukas, were among the thousands enjoying the city’s Christmas tree lighting when Dave realized his wallet had vanished: cash, cards, everything.
After hours of searching and even returning the next morning, they assumed it was gone for good… until Shelby checked their Ring doorbell footage and saw a woman standing at their front door the night before, wallet in hand.
That mystery Good Samaritan had driven over 20 miles to their home just to return it, without leaving her name and without taking a single dollar. Now Dave and Shelby are hoping to find her so they can thank her properly and offer a gift in return.
The couple says losing the wallet right before the holidays would’ve been devastating.
