A tough moment at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas turned into a story about compassion. Police say a traveler who couldn’t board her flight with her dog made the decision to leave the two year old goldendoodle mix tied to a baggage sizer and head for the gate.
While the situation led to an arrest, the real focus quickly shifted to the people on the ground who refused to let that dog be forgotten.
From there, the story gets a lot brighter. The dog was cared for by airport employees and police, then taken to Animal Control and handed off to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas, where it’s now safe, warm, and being looked after during its hold period.
Thousands of people reached out to adopt. But he ended up going to one of the airport cops who responded to the call.
