A fourth‑grader named Logan Vangemert from Martin, Michigan, was in the children’s room at his church when a supervisor named Tom suddenly collapsed from cardiac arrest.
Just a day earlier, Logan had taken part in the American Heart Association’s Kid’s Heart Challenge at school, where he learned hands‑only CPR.
While adults around him panicked and froze, the nine‑year‑old sprang into action, performing chest compressions for several minutes until someone brought in an AED to restart Tom’s heart.
Logan later said he just tried to remember what his instructors had just taught him the day before
Tom survived; he underwent quadruple bypass surgery and received a pacemaker before making a full recovery.
