In Southern California, firefighters rushed back into a burning senior‑living complex when they learned four cats were still inside. Thanks to some quick thinking, the crew found the kitties unresponsive but didn’t give up.
A deputy said he “started giving them chest compressions” after recalling how fast a cat’s heart beats . Using a combination of chest compressions, mouth‑to‑snout resuscitation and oxygen, the firefighters and deputy coaxed the animals back to life .
The cats eventually began breathing on their own and will now be adopted.
