Sunday Parkways returns to the streets of Portland this weekend. Miles of neighborhood streets close down to cars and open to biking, walking, rolling, and community activities. Portland Sunday Parkways Presented by Kaiser Permanente will return to Southwest Portland on May 17, East Portland on June 28, and Downtown Portland on September 13 For the first time since 2019, Sunday Parkways will be returning to North Portland on August 2 with a brand-new route showcasing Downtown St Johns and PBOT's new walking and biking infrastructure investments along N Willamette Boulevard.

Every Sunday at 11 AM, a diverse group of all ages gathers at the Lloyd Center mall for a unique walking experience known as Food Court 5000. Participants don retro 1980s workout gear, blast energetic music, and parade through the mall in a high‑cardio, high‑visibility routine. Even as the Lloyd Center faces closure, the group plans to keep its joyful, neon‑clad walks alive by relocating to new spaces.

The Rose Festival kicks off with fireworks and City Fair on Friday May 22. Some big changes this year to the parades. The Grand Floral and Starlight parades will become one nighttime parade June 6, with Stacey & Mike hosting from Pioneer Courthouse Square. The Junior parade moves to the weekend so the kids don’t get out of school like they used to- that will be Saturday May 30. Also on the 30th: an extra fireworks display saluting America’s 250th birthday.
#BloomTourPDX is coming back for year 3, May 21-June 8! This is one of the most beautiful ways to spend an afternoon in Portland. Walking, connecting and of course getting pictures for the gram of inspiring unique floral installations around town. Memorial Day road trippers Triple A says 39 million people will travel by car over the holiday weekend. The worst times to travel will be during the afternoons Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd, as well as Monday afternoon for returns. Expect peak congestion from noon-9pm on Thursday, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, and then again from noon to 5 p.m. on Monday. If you plan to visit Multnomah Falls you'll need to buy a timed permit starting 5/22. The parking lot gets overloaded, and the permit system helps keep spaces available. You can buy a permit up to two weeks in advance of your visit. Each permit covers a one-hour time slot and then you can stay as long as you want.
