Twenty two years ago, Colorado Springs firefighter Alan Kent responded to a medical call and ended up helping deliver a baby girl named Chloe Huddle.
Alan was the first person to hold her, and what could have been a brief emergency call turned into a lifelong connection. Chloe’s mom later brought her to the fire station, and from there, Alan became part of the family’s story, showing up for birthdays and promising to be there for her biggest milestones.
That promise continued this week when Alan, now retired, flew hundreds of miles to watch Chloe graduate from Grand Canyon University.
As Chloe walked across the stage, her family, fiancé, and the man who helped bring her into the world were all there cheering her on. Chloe says Alan and his wife feel like family, and Alan says getting to watch her grow has been one of the great gifts of his life.
And he story is not over yet: Chloe is getting married this summer, and Alan plans to be there for that milestone too.
