A police officer from England came to Nashville expecting a vacation and instead ended up helping save another officer’s life. Taylor Johanson had just gotten off an eight hour flight when he noticed what looked like a fight happening on the side of the road near I440.
At first he said it took a second for his brain to catch up, but then he realized a Metro Nashville police officer was on the ground struggling with a suspect who had reportedly grabbed for the officer’s gun. Without hesitation, Taylor ran over and jumped into the fight to help pull the suspect off.
The local officer later admitted he wasn’t sure he was going to survive those moments and said backup simply wasn’t close enough yet. Thankfully, a tired tourist from another country just happened to be in exactly the right place at exactly the right time.
Metro Police say the two officers have since met in person and thanked each other, and Nashville plans to formally recognize Taylor for his actions.
