Azriel Blackman used to repair airplanes for a living for American Airlines at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. With his 92nd birthday on the horizon, he no longer touches the tools at JFK—but he still shows up for work at 5 a.m. five days a week, meticulously tracking other mechanics’ workflow. He started working at JFK in 1942 at the age of 16, earning 50 cents an hour. And today, The New York Times reports that he’ll be presented with a plaque certifying him as a Guinness World Record holder for longest career as an airline mechanic.
