Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 23 through Jan. 29, it was announced today by the NBA. This is the second Player of the Week honor for Lillard this season.
Lillard averaged 42.3 points (63.2% FG, 51.4% 3-PT, 92.0% FT), 7.7 assists, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 steals in three games as he passed Jason Terry (2,282) and Vince Carter (2,290) to move up to the No. 6 spot for all-time career three-pointers in the NBA. He also passed Zach Randolph (18,578) on the NBA's all-time scoring list to move up to No. 69.
In Portland’s 134-124 win against Utah on Jan. 25, Lillard posted 60 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals. He became the first player in league history with three career games of 60-plus points, five-plus assists and five-plus rebounds and the third oldest player to record a 60-point game. It was his fourth 60-point game of his career, tying Michael Jordan and James Harden for the third most all-time, and his 14th career game with 50-plus points, tying LeBron James for the second most among active players. He also became the fourth player in NBA history to score 60 points on 70 percent shooting and the fourth player to record a 60-point game while attempting 10 or fewer free throws. His 20 consecutive points to end the third quarter marked the only time a Trail Blazer has scored that many points straight in the last 25 seasons.
This is the 15th time in his career that Lillard has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week, with the last time occurring after the first week of the season on Oct. 24, 2022. His 15 Player of the Week honors are the most in franchise history.
