Gigi's Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center Coming To Portland

GiGi’s Playhouse Achievement Center Is Coming to Portland! Thousands of families in the Portland area are affected by Down syndrome every day. Pandemic-related isolation, disruption of services, and Oregon’s special education staffing crisis has placed an “at risk” population even further at risk. There is an urgent and immediate need to improve the lives of those with Down syndrome (and those affected by it) in Portland and our surrounding communities.

GiGi's Playhouse is a 20-year-old international network of Down syndrome achievement centers providing free educational, therapeutic, and career programs to over 30,000 families in nearly 60 cities. This lifelong commitment is offered to everyone regardless of age — from pre-natal care through adulthood. Our mission is to change the way the world views Down syndrome through national campaigns, educational programs, and by empowering individuals with Down syndrome, their families, and their communities.

In Portland, GiGi’s Playhouse will provide a brick-and-mortar source of acceptance, growth, and love for individuals and families experiencing Down syndrome and/or similar conditions. Services and programming will include: • Individual/Small Group Reading and Math Instruction • Speech Therapy • Social Activities and Groups • Occupational Therapy • Exercise Classes • Vocational Training • Support Groups ...And so much more!

The Portland playhouse will be the first Down syndrome achievement center in the NW and it is desperately needed.

Here's how you can help!

GiGi’s Playhouse Achievement Centers are 99% volunteer-led and rely heavily on the generous financial support of our communities — to open, sustain, and thrive. Please follow this link to learn all the different ways you can support GiGi’s Playhouse Portland.
