Stacey & Mike's Helping Hands For NAMI, Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, fighting stigma, and advocating for better mental health care. It’s also the perfect opportunity to support organizations leading the charge in mental health advocacy—like the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Multnomah.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization, dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. From free support groups and educational programs to policy advocacy and public awareness campaigns, NAMI plays a crucial role in ensuring people get the help they need.

So, how can you support NAMI Oregon and honor Mental Health Awareness Month?

1. Donate to NAMI Multnomah

NAMI relies heavily on donations to fund its programs. Whether it's a one-time gift or a monthly commitment, your contribution helps NAMI provide life-saving resources like the NAMI HelpLine, peer-led support groups, and educational outreach.

2. Join NAMIWalk Northwest

3. Share Mental Health Resources

A big part of fighting stigma is education. Share facts, stories, and mental health resources on your social media to let people know it’s okay to talk about mental health—and that help is available.

NAMI provides free infographics, toolkits, and social media posts you can use throughout the month.

4. Wear Green for Mental Health

Green is the official color for mental health awareness. Wear green clothing, accessories, or ribbons throughout the month, and tell people why. It's a small act that can spark powerful conversations.

Mental Health Awareness Month is more than a hashtag—it’s a call to action. By supporting NAMI Oregon, you help ensure that no one faces mental illness alone. Every voice, donation, and step counts. Let’s keep the conversation going—not just in May, but all year long.

We got to chat with Jaime Johnston from NAMI Multnomah.
